Frequently Asked Questions
Can I convert an embroidered patch photo to SVG?
Yes  photograph the patch flat with even lighting. Upload to imagetosvg.com with Illustration preset. The vectorizer captures the color regions. Some texture from the embroidery stitches will show  clean up in Inkscape if needed.
What SVG format does embroidery software accept?
Most digitizing software (Wilcom, Hatch, PE-Design) accepts standard SVG for auto-digitizing or as reference art. Ink/Stitch directly converts SVG paths to embroidery stitch files. Use clean, filled-path SVGs for best digitizing results.
How do I make a vinyl cut patch from SVG?
Import patch SVG into Cricut Design Space. Cut the base patch shape from Craft Foam or felt. Cut the design from HTV vinyl. Press HTV design onto felt base. Optional: cut an outline border strip from vinyl to mimic the merrowed edge.
What size should a patch SVG be?
Standard patches: 3-4" wide. Set SVG viewBox to match at 1" = 100 units (e.g. 3" patch = viewBox 300 units wide). In Cricut Design Space, set dimensions to the exact target patch size before cutting.
