Steps to Export SVG from Canva

SVG export is a Canva Pro feature. With a free account, you can only export PNG or PDF. With Pro, click Share > Download and select SVG from the format dropdown.

  • Open your design in Canva Pro
  • Click Share (top right) > Download
  • Select file type: SVG
  • Optional: check 'Flatten SVG' if you want a simplified file
  • Click Download

Canva SVG Export Limitations

Canva SVG exports are not always editable in Illustrator or Inkscape as individual elements. Complex Canva designs with multiple fonts, photos, or effects may export as partially flattened SVG. Simple designs with shapes and text work best.

  • Text exports as paths — not editable text
  • Photos in Canva embed as raster in the SVG
  • Simple shape and text designs export cleanly
  • For Cricut: Canva SVG imports well into Design Space
