Basic SVG Resizing in Design Space
Click the SVG in the Design Space canvas. Grab the corner handle (not edge handle) and drag to resize. The lock icon in the toolbar maintains aspect ratio — always keep it locked.
- Click SVG to select it
- Grab corner handle — drag to scale proportionally
- Lock icon: keep locked to maintain proportions
- Or: type exact width in the W field, Design Space auto-calculates H
- Max cut size: 12" wide for Cricut Explore, 12" wide for Maker
Resizing Multi-Layer SVGs
For multi-layer SVGs, select all layers first, then group them (Ctrl+G), resize the group, and ungroup after resizing if needed for individual layer editing.
- Select all layers: Ctrl+A or click each layer holding Shift
- Group: Ctrl+G (or Object > Group)
- Resize the group to final size
- Ungroup if you need to edit individual layers: Ctrl+Shift+G
- All layers resize proportionally together when grouped
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I resize an SVG to an exact size in Cricut?
Click the SVG. In the toolbar, type the exact width in the W field and press Tab. With the lock icon enabled, height auto-updates to maintain proportions.
Why does my SVG look distorted after resizing?
You resized with the lock icon disabled, stretching the SVG unevenly. Undo (Ctrl+Z) and resize again with the lock icon enabled.
Can I resize an SVG below Cricut's minimum size?
Cricut can cut details as small as 0.75 inches depending on the design complexity. Very intricate SVGs may not cut cleanly below 2 inches.
Does resizing an SVG affect cut quality?
No — SVG is vector-based, so resizing doesn't reduce quality. You can resize from 0.5 inches to 24 inches without any quality loss.
