SVG Box Dieline Basics
A box dieline is a flat SVG layout of all the box faces with score lines for folds and cut lines for edges. Design in Inkscape with separate layers for cut (solid line) and score/fold (dashed line) operations.
- Separate layers: cut paths and score/fold paths
- Add glue tabs on one or more edges for assembly
- Test the dieline by printing on plain paper first
Cutting Packaging SVGs on Cricut and Laser Cutters
Cricut handles cardstock and thin paperboard with the Scoring Wheel for fold lines. Laser cutters handle thicker stock and wood packaging. For professional runs, export the SVG as a PDF die template and send to a box manufacturer.
- Cricut: cardstock and 300 gsm paperboard maximum
- Laser cutter: chipboard, kraft board, thin wood box packaging
- Print shop: PDF die template for large-run production
