SVG Preparation for HTV Cutting

Iron-on SVG files have specific requirements different from regular cutting SVG.

  • Mirror the design before cutting — HTV applies face-down
  • In Cricut Design Space: select all > click Mirror (or Flip Horizontal) before sending to cut
  • Keep designs simple: avoid very thin strokes that are hard to weed from HTV
  • Multi-color: cut each color from separate HTV sheets — layer from bottom color up
  • Size: standard shirt front design 11–12 inches wide; baby items 3–5 inches

Popular HTV SVG Projects

Frequently Asked Questions

What temperature and pressure settings for Cricut EasyPress HTV?

Smooth HTV (Siser EasyWeed): 305°F (152°C) for 10–15 seconds with firm pressure. Glitter HTV: 320°F (160°C) for 15–20 seconds. Always follow the specific HTV manufacturer's settings — they vary by brand.

Why is my HTV design peeling after washing?

Common causes: too low temperature, too short press time, pressing on wrong side of HTV, or washing too hot. Always test-wash before gifting. Cotton requires higher heat than poly blends.

How do I layer multiple HTV colors in one SVG design?

Apply the bottom layer first, let cool completely, then layer the next color on top. Overlap layers by 1–2mm to prevent gaps. Press each subsequent layer slightly shorter time than the first to avoid damaging earlier layers.
