Vectorization Presets Explained

Choose the right preset for your image type to get optimal results.

  • Default: balanced settings suitable for most images
  • Icon: high path detail, clean edges, optimized for small graphics with flat colors
  • Line Art: 2-color output, optimized for black strokes on white
  • Photo: higher color count, layered paths for photographic complexity

Output Formats

Download your vector in the format that suits your workflow.

  • SVG: best for web, apps, Figma, Illustrator, Cricut (most compatible)
  • Use Inkscape to convert SVG to EPS or DXF after download
  • For print shops: export as PDF from Inkscape or Illustrator
  • For laser cutters: export SVG to DXF via Inkscape

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between vector and raster images?

Raster images (PNG, JPEG) store pixels. Scale them up and quality degrades. Vector images (SVG) store mathematical path descriptions. They scale to any size with zero quality loss.

Can I convert vector files back to raster?

Yes — open SVG in any browser and save as PNG. Or use Inkscape's PNG export at any resolution. This is called rasterization.

Is an SVG converter the same as a vector converter?

SVG is the most common vector format, so yes — our SVG converter is effectively a vector converter. For other vector formats (EPS, DXF, AI), use Inkscape to convert from the SVG output.

Can I convert a vector to another vector format?

Yes — open the SVG in Inkscape and save as EPS, DXF, or PDF. Illustrator can save as AI, EPS, and SVG. No quality loss occurs when converting between vector formats.

How accurate is the vectorization?

Accuracy depends on the source. For logos and icons with flat colors: 90–99% accurate. For photos: produces a stylized graphic interpretation. Always preview before final use.
